I would love any news on the Pride. I read and enjoyed cruisemaster's review but I would like more!!! We are booked on the Pride march break (due to a screw-up either by our TA or carnival, not sure which!) Anyone interested in this story e-mail me I'd love to share it. We are a bit nervous going on a brand new ship but all our friends think we're the luckiest buggers in the world!! Hope to get some tidbits from you all.

Hi Malcolm I'd love to post our story but don't know if it would be considered a slur on carnival or our TA. I would love to hear what people thought about the whole situation. Is it ok to talk about a particular cruise line of Ta on the forum??

It think it is reasonable to recount any bad cruise related experiences you have had. In fact you would be doing us a service!

It would be wise not to name the names of any people concerned. It would also be wise to be professional in your criticism of a cruise line, rather than 'libellous' - but I'm sure you would anyway!

(Joe will pay any legal fee on your behalf! )

Okay here I go!!!!!
We booked a cruise last August for March 2002. (everyone by now probably knows which cruise line!) We booked through a local travel company in London (Ont, Not England I'm sure this would never happen in London England, right Malcolm!!!)
We paid our deposit and sat back and waited for dec 29 when we had to pay the remainder. We had a 15% discount from this cruise line from a previous cruise and they had to sort out the correct amount so we waited for our TA to get in touch with us. Unfortunately sept 11 happened and our family were a little worried about traveling but after a lot of though we decided to go ahead we couldn't let these buggers scare us or we would never travel again. Then Canada 3000 went bottom-up, we were scheduled to fly with them so again we worried that our cruise may not happen. we waited for our TA to get in touch with us but she never did so we thought no news is good news Right??? Wrong, by Dec 7-8 we still had not heard from our TA and we still did not know how much we were supposed to pay so I called her. She said she had some bad news and some good news She had thought about calling us but because she didn't have all the facts she had decided to put of calling us but since I had called she would give me what she knew. Our cruise had been canceled! a combination of Sept 11 and canada 3000 but the cruise line had guaranteed us a cruise on another ship (better) for the same price. this seemed great so we felt ok. She advised us not to pay anymore and ignore the Dec 29 date and wait until we heard from her. this again made sense , We did not want to pay for something when we didn't even know where we were going. Again we waited Christmas and New Years came and went and we started to get anxious, on Jan 7 I called the office and asked what was going on as we hadn't heard from them and we were now only 2 months away from our departure date. She informed me that Yes they had received the letter and our deposit had been refunded! I couldn't believe this and asked what she was talking about. She said " didn't you call _________ and ask for a refund. we told her no why would we do that????? She said she would look into it and it has been a mess ever since. the TA said it was a glitch with _______ computer system they did offer us another cruise on either the Pride or destiny and we choose the Pride even though the itinerary is really not to our liking.(When i called our TA and said we would need more time to decide and that we weren't all that happy with the choices they had given us, she said Oh they said you could pick from the entire brochure, but I picked those 2 for you to choose from. I didn't want to overwhelm you with choices!!!! they messed up on the 15% discount when they gave us the final payment price ( the error amounted to 400$+) It was a hassle trying to get that sorted out! the bottom line is we are going away march break on the Pride and that will be it for us with this certain company. I am still not confident that our TA did not have a bigger role to play in all this. she is not taking very much of the blame. Maybe she wasn't to blame for any of it but I think she did a poor job of keeping us informed. What do you all think, this ever happened to anyone else????

The most important thing is to keep the client informed, especially in these uncertain times. Sometimes it is not good news that one has to impart to the client but lets face it they are the ones who are paying the money and deserve to be fully in the picture. I sincerely hope you do enjoy your cruise, I am sure you will, but what a shame you had to go through all of this beforehand.
