Carnival Choose Astronaut

December 20: Carnival Cruises Lines have announced that Dr. Jernigan will name the new CARNIVAL PRIDE in a dockside ceremony at Port Canaveral January 7, 2002.

Following the naming ceremony, CARNIVAL PRIDE will depart on a two-day preview cruise for more than 2,000 members of the travel trade. Dr. Tamara Jernigan, a pioneer in U.S. space travel who has logged more flight hours on the space shuttle than any other female astronaut in history.
