Maybe five years ago, I was a regular visitor to my local Travel Agent's shop. However, in recent years I have booked all my holidays/flights over the Telephone, to a Telephone Agency, or 'Direct' or by the Internet.

A couple of years ago I raised this topic here. A number of CruiseTalkers felt unsure of on-line bookings and much preferred face to face travel advice, from an Agent.

So how do people feel now about the 'on-line' booking of holidays/travel?

I love being able to book on line...no dealing with people...RCL has the best...and my tickets were in my hands 5 days after my full payment..There are still times when I book with an agent, but that is when there are special circumstances..

Of course, I have literally grown up with computers, so about half my purchasing takes place on line...you just have to be careful with the site...I have used expedia and orbitz for both business and pleasure flights and hotel bookings..yahoo travel for flights and Continental, Northwest, Alaska, southwest and Delta for flights...all slick as a whistle, just find the best price and go for it.

But I would say it depends on the person...some need a face in front of them and that is understandable too.

I have always booked through a TA, but today I found out that I can book directly with HAL. Maybe I will try this next time.

I have always booked the majority of my travel with an Agent, usually with excellent results. For my next trip (in January) to Las Vegas, I booked through Travelocity.com and had absolutely no problem. Received my tickets within two weeks after payment.
For my next cruise (Disney Wonder/December '02) I used a cruise only agency and got a better price and better cabin than online. Better buying power, I guess.

I used to be nervous but, I book all of my travel on-line. Usually the rates are better and I can research to get the best rates especially for air fare and hotels.
