Arosa Blue would have been a better name... why does it have to be so complicated with 's and small letters....

Yes.. and why will the ships for the German market get no German names? Surely: AIDAcara, AIDAvita, AROSA BLU sound good... but they sound like Italian ships... Is there a link to Italian companies in the background?

All I get from
http://www.a-rosa.de
is what I take to be a red rose prefixed with a lowercase 'a'
http://www.a-rosa.de/img/photo/2_1_arosablu/schiffsansicht.gif
brings up an ink rendition of a ship with a red rose and, perhaps, petals on parts of the hull.

I this all there is???

"Is that all there is?"

No. It's just an example of overly cutesy web-page design. Move your cursor over the rose, watch it turn into a pointing hand, which means you're hovering over a clickable link. So click your mouse. It brings up the next page. Again no underlined links--too blatantly obvious for a cutting-edge line. Instead, move your cursor around all the graphics and little squares. When the arrow turns into the pointing hand, you've found something else to click on. Etc.

Happy hunting.

Because all the German names are in the pocket of HAPAG-Lloyd.

HANSEATIC or RELIANCE might have been good names for her, but I doubt Hapag-Lloyd would let P&O use them

To Karsten: Sorry but I disagree with you. The names " A Rosa Blu ", "AIDAcara" and "AIDAvita" are totally uncorrect in Italian ( they are only the sample justapposition of singular italian words in a form that hasn't any sense in Italian ).I'll try to explain with an example for " A Rosa Blu ": in Italian the correct form for this name will be " Una Rosa Blu " ( it corresponds to the english one " A Blue Rose ") or " La Rosa Blu" (it corresponds to " The Blue Rose "). Also the other two names " AIDAcara" and " AIDAvita" are a pastiche originated by the fusion of the name of the famous G.Verdi's liric opera "AIDA" and singular italian words: cara corresponds to the english dear, vita to life.I think that there isn't any connections with the italian operators or cruisemarket but that P&O is trying to sell its german cruise product claiming indirectly the successfull and universally liked formula of the "Cruising italian style"( a logo registered by Costa Crociere ).

I said that Hapag-LLoyd might not let other operators use names that belonged to ships on their fleets but I forgot that Peter Deilmann managed to grab two of the most famous German shipping names: DEUTSCHLAND and BERLIN. Each name is associated with a different historical German company: HAPAG and NDL respectively.

My sugestion: considering that the name HANSEATIC is still in use, I think that RELIANCE could have been a good choice of name.

Instead they prefer to use weird names...

Regards

The name A'ROSA BLU was chosen to rely to the new partnership of Seetours with the Swiss town Arosa.
If you go to www.seereisenmagazin.com you will find an article about the backgrounds of the new Seetours-concept (it's written in German only).
