We have just booked a 14 day cruise on the Nordamn and am very excitied about it. I didn't even bother to check things out because of HAL's reputation. I am a little worried because review's of the Nordamn seem to be so-so??? And the reviews are a little old. Has anybody been on her lately? Are the pools really so small? Has anybody been on the 14 day Southern Carribean cruise? Our longest has been 7 days and am not really sure what to expect? I did expect to LOVE it LOL

Geno-r, can't give you a direct review but I did spend some time on her sister NIEUW AMSTERDAM when she was in Sydney last year. Have to say that she was quite attractive and looked fresh, despite her years. No huge showlounges or attriums but rather a more classical elegance. No problem with the pools, one large with a nice sized lido area and a smaller pool a couple of decks higher. (No magradomes here though.) No problems, should enjoy NOORDAM.

Of all the HAL ships the Noordam is my favorte.

She is a very ellegant smaller vessel with the best promenade deck i've ever seen.

I sailed on the Noordam last year and she was in great condition.

Do not expect a ROTTERDAM type of ship.

We sailed on the Noordam last January - 14 day Southern Caribbean. Although an older ship, it is very well maintained and clean, food was standard HAL quality and the service was excellent. We liked the itinerary as it included islands we had never been. Our favorite was St. Lucia - lots of foliage and the Pitons were amazing. Aruba and Marguerita Island were interesting also - desert and plenty of very large cacti. If you are looking for a large, new and glitzy ship, the Noordam is not the one for you. If you are looking for something more intimate and cozy and don't care that it isn't a mega ship, then you are sure to enjoy the cruise. Bon Voyage!

Thank You All for your replies. They make me feel much better!! I'm sure we will enjoy this ship. While all our cruises were good, our best and most fun was on the Tropicale and we are looking forward to returning to this size ship. We are also looking forward to this itinerary since, except for Grand Cayman, we have not visited these islands.
