June 28: Princess Cruises' 69,845 gt 1990-built 1,590 passenger MV CROWN PRINCESS has suffered a serious mechanical breakdown and had to be towed into the port of Copenhagen on Tuesday, 26 June.

Yes and Costa Tropicale had to cancel her first cruise in the Med due to "mechanical problems"!

It's obvious that due to the high price of fuel, thay have decided to quit using engines. Next, passengers will be issued oars.

On an earlier Baltics cruise this month, the CP experienced an electrical failure. Pax were without electricity from about 8pm -2am. They also were not able to make their port of call in Estonia. Pax were given a $150.00 credit each.. which I think is quite nice of Princess. Of course, some pax are still complaining saying that it was not enough.

Malcom -- Could you please tell us where you found this information. We are suppose to be on the Crown Princess on July 15 and I want to keep up on any news about the problem, if possible.

LOLOLOL what ever happened to the old steamers like Titanic. they never broke down, only sank but hey at least you would get have a cruise! Maybe they should use the lifeboats for the cruises

We were very interested in travlling on that particular cruise and couldn't get a berth.

Glad we didn't.
