We were going through clothing tonight and we were a little foggy trying to remember how dressed we had to get for dinner.
We obviously remember getting dressed to the hilt for Captain's night, but we were a little unsure about the rest of the nights. Will I need a suit and tie every night or can I get by with slacks and shirt. What about the wife's attire...other than Captain's night? How casual can we get?
It's not that we don't like to dress up, but one of our bigger problems is we gave up smoking 4 1/2 months ago and weight gain has become an issue. We're both in the process of trying to lose it, but with not a lot of our current clothing fitting well and 3 months to go...we made need to purchase a pretty extensive waredrobe before we leave and we want to try and be frugal with our clothing purchases. Especially staring in a northern port near the end of Sept and ending on the Hawaiian islands...were we'd need a little bit of a variety, at least we think?
We'd appreciate any help or suggestions anyone may have. Thanks
First, congratulations on giving-up the butts. I gained 35 lbs. when I quit 10 years ago, but lost it after a couple of years. Hang in there. As far as dress, things have gotten more "relaxed", at least mass-market lines. I would take a sports coat if you have one already, but golf shirts and dockers work quite well. Jeans are still "frowned upon" for dinner, as well as shorts. Your wife will be fine in slacks, skorts, and blouses. Nothing fancy (except formal), just smart "resort" wear. You might want to take a light jacket or sweater/sweatshirt for cool evenings and air-conditioning indoors. The dress-code for the day is shorts, but with so many options for eating, you can stay in a bathing suit most of the day. Hope you have a great trip!
Regards...Bob
