Less than 2 weeks and I'll be on the Exployer of the Seas. I was wondering if anyone was on it and how they liked it. Also, is anyone else going on june 2?

These ships are fantastic!! I took the voyager last April and liked it so much I took Explorer over Christmas last year. I am booked to take Voyager again June 24. (would have booked explorer again but I had to leave on a Sunday). They are definitely not for everyone but if you are active and can't sit still (like me) you'll love it. My wife who likes to soak up sun like an iguana loves it too. That is what is so great about these ships, there is something for everyone.

Say hello to Dany(bartender) for me (from jason) at the golf bar near the rock wall if he is still aboard. One of the best bartenders I've ever met. Ask him to mix up one of his concoctions for you. He owes me some brain cells.

Since I see the two ships as being VERY similar, I have pasted my review of Voyager from cruisereviews.com below
http://www.cruisereviews.com/rci/Voyager4.htm

Background:

This was our fourth cruise. We have sailed Grandeur, Enchantment, Grand Princess and Voyager. We enjoyed Voyager the most. We also thoroughly enjoyed Grandeur and Enchantment. We were not thrilled with Grand Princess.

I'm not going to go to the little details of this ship because its been pretty much been covered elsewhere. In a word, this ship is magnificent! The engineering behind this masterpiece had me in awe from the moment I stepped aboard.

The rock climbing wall was a blast. Roller blading (very small but fun for a goof), ice skating, miniature golf, the gym, and the spa were all excellent. I need a vacation from this vacation. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will not book as many excursions to make more time to enjoy this ship.

The rooms were beautifully designed and you could even bend a little in the shower (rounded plexi doors instead of thin shower curtains make them slightly bigger). Also, there were no schooner type creaking noises like I experienced on the Grand Princess (DO NOT GO ON THAT SHIP - I went through three rooms before we got one with a lesser creak).

What you should know:

1) Make sure you get the seating you want as soon as you reserve your ticket. If you don't, go to the dining room ASAP. This is no different from other ships.

2) Reserve alternate dining, spa, excursions, and other optional activities early as they can get booked up.

3) The week we were aboard, roller blading, rock climbing, ice skating, and even Johnny Rockets were not charging! This was a "test" period I presume resulting from complaints from former passengers and it was great. I do not know if they will continue this or not but be aware that they might charge for certain "extras".

4) If you need cash aboard, save the $5 service fee at the atm and get cash charged to your room card at one of the casino tables. There is no fee there (if you can escape the casino without losing it).

5) The overall food quality on this ship is pretty good. NOT gourmet, NOT great. I'm not saying its bad, I'm just saying that many people have exaggerated this point and if your most important criteria of a ship is the food, you may want to consider a Celebrity or Seabourn cruise. But if you reject this ship on food alone you are missing out.

6) There is a small, relatively unknown sunning area over the spa (deck 13) that is usually relatively quiet if you want a nice quiet spot to lay out.

You gotta experience this ship to believe it!!

Enjoy!!

hma109 We were on the Explorer this past Feb. and we had an excellent cruise. We had excellent service from a very happy crew and thought the food improved from our Voyager cruise a year earlier. Both ships were a joy to experiance, and I hope you'll be amazed with the Explorer as I was.
Have a great cruise .
