The following set of pictures were taken by me during the 'maiden' arrival of the OCEANIC to Lisbon, still carrying the (in)famous Premier livery.
It was a very somber day with rain and heavy clouds, in fact I first saw her at the distance when she appeared from the middle of the mist, but she was as beautifull has ever.
She doesn't show her age, it almost seems that she's going to live forever.
While preparing to cross the River Tagus bridge she sounded her mighty steam whistle as a way of saying welcome to our city.

Being a bit late, she got her pilot at 18h30 and docked at 19h30, the light conditions weren't the best but it was enough to photograph her.

Lindas fotos Paulo Mestre. Mesmo o céu estando cinza e as condições desfavoráveis, as cores ficaram bastante vivas e as fotos nítidas.

Esse é um de meus navios favoritos e você um ótimo fotógrafo!

Paulo, great pictures as usual, and the subject helped a lot. In my opinion the colour of the sky was wonderful that day. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Thank you, for your pictures.
I see the ship on May, 5th, when we stay
in Barcelona for 1 day with the
"Costa Romantica". It is very nice, indeed!
Cruising for "Pullmantours"

On the other side of the bassin was the
"Seawind Crown", out of order.

I see her in October last year with the
"Millenium" and now again at the same place
docked.

A nice ship, too. This makes me sadly...

The ship is indeed in very good condition.
Amerikanis, I was as well in Barcelona on 5th May with PALMIRA. I saw the COSTA ROMANTICA docked in the other side of the port next to the CLUB MED 2. I was lucky since the PALMIRA was docked next to the SEAWIND CROWN so I was able to get into the part of the port which is normally closed. On the opposite side of PALMIRA was the R TWO and the OCEANIC was docked alonside the SEAWIND CROWN. It was a cruiseship-rich day in Barcelona.
If I knew that you were there we could have met.

Patrick, i was with the shuttle-bus in the town, walking on the "Ramblas" and going into the gothic part of the town.
If i knew, that you are on the "Palmira"
i think we could met in the harbour area.

Tell me please, how the food and service was on the "Palmira".

I think about booking this ship, if the "Summit" is delayed to deliver as her two
sister ships are.

I have booked the "Summit" for an cruise starting October 1st in Ft. Lauderdale.

It is not possible for me to cruise later than October, because my company gets an new product on November 1st, and i need the rest of the year and the first months next year
to make propaganda.

But i am thinking about booking Paloma or Palmira in Autumn for an Trip round Western Europe, this is comfortable for me, because i can take my car on this ships for an little amount of money and mixed my holidays with some days in Italy or Austria with my car.

Hallo Amerikanis,
Das Essen auf der PALMIRA sowie der PALOMA ist von sehr guter Qualität. Die Portionen sind angemessen und die Buffets ausreichend. Natürlich kann man es nicht mit Celebrity Cruises vergleichen, da das Produkt ein vollkommen anderes ist. Bei PSM wird Luxus nicht erwarted, jedoch ist das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ausgezeichnet. Der Service auf beiden Schiffen wird nun von Quality Cruise Service gemanagt, welche eine der besten catering-Gesellschaften ist. Die Besatzung ist freundlich und aufmerksam (alle kommen aus der Ukraine bis auf das leitende Hotelmanagement).
Die PALMIRA startet eine Westeuropa-Kreuzfahrt am 23. August von Bremerhaven bis Genua (13 Tage). Preis ab 1837.-DEM (Neckermann-Preis). Bei mir ist´s billiger !
Die PALOMA fährt am 31. August von Amsterdam bis Nizza (auch 13 Tage). Preis ab 1890.-DEM (Hansa Touristik). Ich kann beide Schiffe empfehlen. Den PKW kann man für 200.-DEM mitnehmen und ist immer zugänglich.
Ansonsten kann ich eine Kreuzfahrt mit PALMIRA am 21 September ab/bis Antalya anbieten. Ich bin dann mit einer Gruppe an Bord.
Also, wenn man keinen Luxus erwartet, sondern ein 3-Sterne-Level, sind beide Schiffe sehr zu empfehlen.

Danke, für die Info, Patrick.
Bin prinzipiell interessiert, allerdings läuft noch meine Buchung mit der "Summit",
Start 1. Oktober 2001 in Ft. Lauderdale.
Das ist die 2. Kreuzfahrt dieses Neubaues.
Sollte das Schiff genauso wie seine Schwestern Millenium und Infinity wieder verspätet abgeliefert werden, dann würde ich gerne auf Dich zurückkommen.

Wenn es pünktlich geliefert wird, fahre ich da mit, da ich die 13-Tage-Tour (ab Hafen)
für weniger als DM 2.000,-- bekommen habe, was für so ein tolles Schiff mit Superessen
ja ausgesprochen billig ist.

Flug buche ich dazu, ist ja Nebensaison.

Ich bevorzuge KLM.

Im nächsten Jahr habe ich allerdings noch gar nichts disponiert, da wäre eine rund-um-Westeuropa-Tour, oder Syrien-Libanon,
oder Schwarzes Meer, oder Norwegen sehr
interessant.

Im Magazin "An Bord", ehemals "Seereisen-Magazin", dessen langjähriger Abonnent ich bin, sind die beiden Schiffe schon vorgestellt worden und kamen ausgesprochen gut bei der Beurteilung weg.

Ich war übrigens schon an Bord der "Dimitriy Shostakovich": 1982 in Rhodos, als wir mit der "Fedor Shaljapin" daneben lagen.

Damals war das Ding nagelneu...

sind ein paar Bierchen an der Bar trinken gegangen (Becks aus der Dose), danach wieder zurück auf unser Schiff.

Sorry Paddy for the German-only-talk.
We actually did only talk about a possible booking on PALMIRA and I presented a bit the ship like I did in English as well in another topic.
Amerikanis, die PALOMA, auch wenn nicht mehr so neu wie damals, ist sehr gut in Schuß. Viel ist getan und verbessert worden. Mitlerweile gibt es Holsten vom Fass !
