On a recent 9 day cruise from Sydney to New Caledonia and Vanuatu the Pacific Sky weathered very heavy weather the whole time. On nearly every day at sea the passengers were barred from the outside decks as the ship sailed through cyclonic conditions. This can happen to any cruise and I'm sure some, if not all cruisepage readers have experienced heavy weather on a cruise. Good thing that the Pacific Sky is a solid and seaworthy liner.

This would have been caused by Tropical Cyclone Sose moving south through the Coral Sea between Vanuatu and New Caledonia on April 8, 9 and 10.......The usual cyclone season of February to April should be just about over now. We are hoping for better weather on the 14 May cruise.

We had a brush with Cyclone Paula last month when coming up from Auckland on the Crown Odyssey. Had to miss Fiji, Tonga and Samoa but got up to the Northeast of it and the first stop was Pago Pago. We had winds up to 80kts and 35ft seas and were down to 8kts one night. She behaved very well indeed.
The swells from Paula were with us pretty well all the way to Tahiti so it was a big storm.

If it works, then its the Sky Princess (Pacific Sky) during a storm in the Tasman Sea.
