Greetings,

Just returned from our 7 day Western Caribbean cruise on the Maasdam. I'll try to get a full review with pictures up in the next day or so but the short version is that it was one of the best cruises we've had on HAL.

Food was very good and service was great. For an 8 year old ship she was in great shape - none of the wear and tear that you might expect.

They upgraded Club Hal (kids program) on the Maasdam and will be expanding it to the rest of the fleet soon. This was a big difference between our Millennium cruise last year and our children (7 and 5.5) loved it.

Welcome Home - glad to hear it was such a good cruise and that HAL's children's program was so successful.
Understand that you did not meet my friend - told him to go and knock on your door!!
Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Joe: Glad you had a good cruise...particularly since we will be going to the Maasdam in several weeks and are greatly looking forward to it.

We've cruised w/ HAL many times and have been on Maasdam three times in the past. I was happy to hear they have maintained her so well.

I'll be eager to read your review. Welcome home.

Thanks! from me, too! Looking forward to your review and pictures. Have never cruised HAL and can't wait to see what the Maasdam is like. Leaving for Fort Lauderdale in 18 days for pre-cruise relaxation. Can't wait to get away from this dreary Ohio weather! Jkm7 - maybe we'll bump into each other on Nav Deck.

Cruised on the Maasdam FLL to Venice a couple of years ago and would classify it as probably my favorite ship. Everything worked very well, traffic patterns for pax are good, nice staff. If you encounter a dining steward in the buffet who calls himself "Tika", he's a gem! Treat him well.
