First time cruiser. Just booked the Sensation for 8/12/01. Will be 2 adults and 2 children.

Any thoughts or comments on this ship would be greatly appreciated. How about shore tours. Are we better off doing this on our own or take the escorted tours sold on the ship.

Carnival Cruises offers an excellent cruise product that caters well all the categories of passengers included the teens those enjoy many dicated activities.The Sensation is a great and colorfull ship that has a loyal following also in Italy.The cuisine offered even if not gourmet is good in quality and quantity with many different options included theme dinners.The service is very friendly and attentive and the entrateinments simply the best at sea.So the cruise product is far better than those presented by Douglas Ward who seems to discriminate many cruise lines(Carnival,Costa,even Princess and HAL)for others(Crystal and Celebrity).About the excursions I suggest you to reserve the tours sold on board particularly those offered in Mexico(I suggest you to try Tulum and Xela Lagoon).Have an excellent cruise.

You will have a good time! We do our own thing in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We generaly rent a car and go the the beaches ect. In Grand Cayman a trip to Hell and the Turteles is a must. If you want to rent a car in GrandCayman I reccomend www.coconutcarrentals.com , they are within walking distance of the pier that the tender brings you too. In Cozumel there are quite a few at the pier.

Thanks to all who responded to my questions.

For K & K, the kids are 8 and 10. I am hoping to get the 8 year old in with daughter who is 10.

I have many good things about this ship, and some negative. I feel we will have a good time, but want some reassurance upfront.

Been on Sensation twice and you will have a good time. As far as shore excursions do your research because most if not all of the time the cruise line charges a lot more than you could get it for. You rkids will have fun a lot of kids on board and they have the camp carnival which could give you a little alone time.

Hi, Just got home last night from our cruise on the Sensation. Their is a great camp Carinval for kids your age, they will be well looked after. We really enjoyed our cruise (who wouldn't right!!! one week sun compared to one weeks snow!)What ports are you going to?? We went to Grand Caymen, Cozumel and New Orleans (all awesome) If you are going to the same ports you have to do the Stingrey tour. We paid around $42 each and it was the best $$ ever spent. We booked on the ship the first day and a lot of people were disappointed because they waited and the tours sold out. We went to Hell, the tirtle farm and the stingray tour. We were a little disappointed in Hell but if you have never been before it is just something you want to see. We had 15 minutes to see "Hell" take pictures and shop in the 3 small store We were all waiting to get back on the tour bus!!! We asked the people in the stores why it wasn't very much to see and they said it had deteriorated over the years. We bought tee-shirts which was what we wanted to do. The turtle farm was okay we got some pictures with baby ones ( its okay if you try and forget how cruel it is) The highkight by far was the stingrays. We had heard on this board that it was a must. It is awesome. I don't want to tell you to much but I still have a bruise on my arm from my daughter and one kid close to us had a "hickie" on his stomach. Don't worry if you are not a strong swimmer I had never snorkled before It was the absolute highlight of the tour for me. I will wait to see what ports you will at before I go into detail about the other two that we went on but feel free to e-mail me and I will talk to you more about our trip. I would advise booking tours from the ship but that is because we are not experienced enough to do them on our own.

I think we should now recommend Sunbird for March break 2002. Hows about it hooked on cruising?

Hi Paddy, We are not sure where we will go next year but I'll tell you this we will go somewhere!! We will not go Sunday to Sunday again though it is too tiring. I love your idea Topgun, lets go on the Sunbird next March break, how about it folks. Paddy, my sister is going on the sunbird in July leaving, I think, from Belfast. She is looking forward to it I can't wait until she comes back to see how her expewrience compared to ours. I think I like the small ship better, but my husband is now saying he would like to go to an all inclusive island. We may even look at a week on a ship and a week on an island. We'll see.
