Wow! I never thought QE2 could look better then she did in 1999, but after her refit she looks AMAZING. Boarding from Fremantle was nice, being my hometown. The mid ships lobby has just had a pure silver model of the QE2 added to it - the model is quite spectacular and the pools area outlined with blue diamonds. The NEW Caronia Restaurant looks amazing; with its crystal chandeliers and hand painted mural it looks great. The Mauretania now has a new entrance. The ships carpets and wall coverings have all changed - new colors are blues, reds and gold - looks really nice! The Grand Lounge has had new curtains added which have gold trimming which look beautiful - gives a real Broadway feeling. The Queens Room has been totally re-designed. This is the main lounge and now has dark blue and gold furnishings and new wood paneling. The 5 and 4 deck corridors have had light wood paneling and look great! All the fairy lights have had little coverings fitted - just adds a new sense of class on 4 and 5 deck. The Pursers office is in an oval shape now, and the new carpet is brilliant! There are smaller versions of the mid ships lobby murals at the back of the pursers office. The staff there is great! The food is, in one word, delicious! There is such a huge selection of food aboard QE2, everything from Roast Duck in the Mauretania to Hot Dogs at the Pavilion Cafe, the QE2 has it all. The service on QE2 is really good. The waiters are all very attentive and friendly and the cruise staff is great. The Mauretania has had a new entrance added at both the "A" stairway end and the "Crystal Bar" end. The Crystal Bar its self has been re painted in a lovely green and has a new carpet. The cabins had been re decorated in late 1999, replacing the cream and brown color scheme of late 1994 with reds, blues and gold - a very good improvement. There is ample closet space and all cabins have well equipped bathrooms. I'm over 6" tall and I could fit in the shower with plenty of space between me and the ceiling - yay hehe. As for entertainment, there is so much to do on QE2. You can take tours of the heritage trial on this grand ship, use the health club, swim in one of 2 pools, learn to dance in the Queens Room, use the Club 2000 video arcade which has just been re designed with many new arcade games, walk the decks, play tennis / golf / basketball, use the gym... or just sit on a deckchair and watch the ocean go by. I met some other people my age, and made a very close friend - Anika (Hi Neeks) hehe not that she'd be reading this. Umm what else can I tell you? Bali was great, shore excursions were great fun. Getting off the ship was sad of course But I look forward to my next QE2 cruise!! If you want to see all the pictures of my time aboard they are at http://www.chriscunard.cjb.net/ under the "Images" bit. Also I posted a review here (so did Anika) and It is up in the "Reviews by our readers" bit of Travelpage.com

Thanks for reading

Cunard, sounds like a great trip! (Do I detect a little romance?) Nice pictures too.
