Here are just two pictures of the new US Lines Patriot (former HAL Nieuw Amsterdam). The first shot shows the new logo being welded and painted onto the funnel.. the other show the ships with its new look. Go to www.casgen.com and look and numerous pics from the conversion- including shots of the new public rooms.

I'd like to see more of the interior public rooms. If I were to do a Hawaii cruise, it would be hard to decide between Patriot (once they get operational bugs worked out) and the Independence.

But then again, I've done land based Hawaiian trips and am not sure that a cruise would be more fun than the B&B's and condos I've been to....

Surely any Hawaiin island cruise would beat any land based tour..Am I missing something?
And what are these "operational bugs" you talk about?

Thanks Joe for the link to that interesting review, Well I guess this officially make the United States Line back with there excellent 1 star service and fake eggs.
Can's wait to see there new ship that looks like a live stock cargo ship, I herd cargo ships get better ratings then 1 star.
I guess its a good thing United States Line has a parent company to back them as if they were just standing on there two own feet they would be bankrupted after a few months.

I have read some very bad things about the MS Patriot in the dutch Holland America Line Newsletter.

A Holland america line officer who has trained some of the new crew said that the service and the crew of this ship are terrible.

One week a person was Tablesteward and the other week he was 4th officer. That kind of stories.

He felt sorry for the Nieuw Asterdam to be operated by such a terrible crew and he thinks that this will go very wrong in the near future.
