Hi!

Now that DFDS has bought Star Aquarius on its Copenhagen - Helsingborg - Oslo route. She will be given to her new owner in Laem Chabang in 26.1.2001 (is the date correct?) and will head to an some European dock for renovation to start her new trafick in June. Has she already stopped cruising for Star Cruises? If not when is the last cruise? Or when when was the last cruise?

By the way becouse Star Aquarius's official name is Lankapuri Star Aquarius I wonder what does the word Lankapuri mean anyway?

Regards!

Yes, Star Cruises will sell their first flag ship ~ Langkapuri Star Aquarius to new owner. The tranfer day is at the end of Feb.

About the word "Langkapuri", it was given by Malaysia President. The meaning is about the "God".

Eric Lee - maybe you know - why does Star Cruises shift their ships around so much? They buy and sell ships quicker than I change my underwear. Not a criticism, their ships are gorgeous, and if I ever go back to Asia again, I'd love to sail one of their ships, but why do they operate the way that they do?

yea, i don't understand it, instead of selling them, they are better off transferring them to NCL. I would think that that ship would be good going to the caribbean.

Rex you are quite right. Star Cruises not only buy and sell their ships regularly, they also keep changing their itineraries, sometimes after only two months which is not helpful for planning ahead.Superstar Aries which was to have been based in Hong Kong now cruises from Fukuoka, Japan. This is just one example. Otherwise it a very good cruise line, especially Superstar Gemini which is a favourite with Australians and New Zealanders.

Hi,
The problem with converted ferryships are the cabins: a ferrycabin is meant for one night only and storage space is VERY limited as passengers leave most of their luggage in the car on the cardeck.
All converted ferryships (Festivals AZUR and Golden Suns AEGEAN1 for ex) have the same problem.

Yes, but this shuffling and selling seems to be a fleetwide thing. They purchased two of Renaissance's mega-yachts and sold them, they bought and sold the ISLAND PRINCESS,SUN VIKING, one of the old Royal Viking triplets (to the Koreans) and now they want to turn the NORWAY into a casino ship. God only knows what they'll do with her after a couple of years. I have never seen any company operate this way. I always thought cruise ship lines behaved in a conservative manner...I don't mean to sound critical, I mean, they can do what I can't, but I was just wondering...
