A beatifull ship. One of the last classics still afloat, a remembrance of lost times. Seeing her shinning like a new penny is the proof of the love of the men that take care of her.
After Lisbon she headed for Madeira for the acclaimed New Year fireworks and celebrations.

Very well said Paulo! They can be proud of her indeed. There are still existing crew people and companies who look after their ships, no matter if they are not modern ones with "high money maker purpose built" and even if they are "from another era, worth do be put on the Gadani's route only".Both categories, modern and old, can and must exist as long as possible, each one, modern or old, can be enjoyable if well maintained and run by companies aware and ready for extra maintenance costs (although we have seen several very modern realizations with heavy problems, immobilization and costs during the last few years too).
Thank you to share this high quality photo too.Bye.
Yes a great ship with one of the most distinctive funnels afloat! I recently saw her timeless interiors in a magazine - great
your shots are always perfectly exposed and crystal clear, do you use slide or print film? Keep on posting great stuff.

I don't use any special kind of film, only an ordinary 135 film. I was using an normal Fuji film (Superia 200) that is the film I normally use because it produces quality pictures. In fact during this summer cruise season I want to upgrade my photos so I will start using Fujichrome, it's more expensive but the gain in quality is visible. During the scanning process there is a weird phenomenon: the pictures always lose definition (become more blurry) so I have to sharpen using a paint program.
However, your secret seems to be in your post-production techniques

Malcolm, I also prefer Fuji over Kodak because it produces prints with more vivid colors that Kodak film.
About my post-production magic, there isn't anything to it: when scanning the pictures the process smoothes the edges of the objects visible so with a paint program I sharpen the picture so it returns to it's original quality.
