I just read an "live from the Millennium" post from another site. The guy said that Regis Philbin is on the Millennium right now! He said he was watching a game in the sports bar and saw him there. He also said the Millennium is a beauty and he was having a great time

I don't understand why this guy is so popular. His shows are boring as snot. If you have a fasination with winning money, you have a problem. If you enjoy the show for it's trivia, ok I'll give you that. If you think he's cute, wow, whatcha smokin?

If he sat at my table at dinner on a cruise, I would probably ask to be moved, because I don't want autograph hounds interrupting my dinner. He might love it, but I wouldn't.
I'm sure he's a nice guy, I just wouldn't get goo goo eyed over him.

Sorry, I thought you might have heard of Regis! He hosts the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" show as well as having a popular morning talk show, "Live with Regis" for several years. He goes way back to early radio. He is very popular with SOME people
I like him. He has cruised a lot. He usually cruises with Crystal and sometimes Celebrity.

Do you know who Kathy Lee Gifford is? She used to do the Carnival ads on TV - she was Regis's co-host for many year but left the end of last year (2000) i.e.
As Mercy said, some like him, some don't!

I guess poor Regis can go on something other than Carnival know that he's rid of Kathie Lee. LOL.

PS. I'd love to share a dinner table with Regis he seems like a plain down to earth type guy, I bet he'd make a great table mate.

We were on a New Years cruise aboard the Celebration back in 1989, and Regis, his wife Joy, and his children were also on board. He was very approachable and gracious, but for the most part the passengers respected his privacy. It was fun to watch his first show back after the cruise, because he was telling Kathy Lee all about the cruise we had just been on!

Is he just "there" or is he part of the entertainment?

I mean, c'mon: if he's paying his own way, it rates a report?

I'm mystified by the appeal of this man, on or off TV. Or on a ship, FTM.

In Britain we have 'stars' like Cilla Black, Des O'Connor and Chris Tarrant, to name a few!

These people also generate love and hate In fact if they were on my cruise ship, I would have to disembark quickly or swim for it!

Malcolm; I believe his show "who wants to be a millionaire" was created in Britain. He saw it while on vacation there and bought the rights to it. He had the Brittish host as a guest on his morning show. Has your opinion changed! That is too bad you would jump ship as most celebrities I have met are just regular folks. Kevin

I have heard that Regis does indeed enjoy cruising on Crystal. He's not as animated when he's not on camera..almost shy. I think he's a very sincere man. He would indeed be an intersting table mate on a cruise.

Kevin - I saw that show where he had the British host on a show - it was created in Britain.
Canada tried to do the show here, but in my opinion it was awful - especially the hostess!

Don't think Regis himself actually bought the show - wasn't it ABC? Saw a bio of him and he has not always had money - believe he's known some rough times. He just never gave up and, more power to him, has finally hit the big time.
As a paying passenger no one should be bothered, particularly at dinner, by inconsiderate autograph seekers - I'd love to be at their table. Doubt that he and his wife would bore everyone to death trying to make an impression.
On board entertainers are fair game - they're hoping/praying to be recognized!
I agree with Kevin - most celebrities are just regular folks - on vacation like you and me - they need a break too.
Happy cruisin'

Mercy,
Don't know if you caught Regis this AM, he and his wife had their cruise pictures from the Millennium.
Didn't see it myself but my wife said Regis and company had a great time onboard. Good comercial for Celebrity.
