I am refering to a car on the deck of the Grand Princess. It has been there for a while. It seems strange to put a car on a deck of a cruise ship. If it is an advertisement for the car or car company, they are going all out with their marketing campaigne. Anyone comment?

A couple of years ago the Destiny was docked beside us in St. Lucia (I think) and when I looked up at the ship there was a car in the window. I always wondered about that. Anyone know why they would put a car inside a cruise ship and how the H did they get it there?

was this a while back ?....or is there another car up top of the "grand princess" ?
about a year ago there was a promotion with toyota and princess and they placed a toyota
"avalon" up top to promote the special....if you purchased a car or leased one they would give you points towards a cruise or give you a seven day cruise....something like that...i saw the advertisement in the magazine....jeff.....carnival ?....maybe the same type of promotion.

The captain of the Grand Princess is allowed to have a personalised parking space -the car belongs to him!

Can't tell what kind of car it. It might be a Lexus. Lexus had a promotion that if you lease or buy their LS 400 (or any high-end Lexus) you get a seven days cruise package. It was a brief promotion in this part of the country. I'm not sure was the promotion nation wide.

The Royal Yacht Britannia had has a garage on it which held left hand drive Rolls Royce cars for the Queens use abroad. The only problem being that someone put the garage on the wrong side of the ship so they had to hoist the cars up every time they were used -they stopped using them on most trips and I can quite understand why.

I would have loved to have seen the performance of moving a very expensive car across a priceless ship - oops it fell, sorry your Majesty I have sunk your yacht!

We were on the Grand Princess too. It was a contest. Someone cruising with Princess was going to win the car. Unfortunately, it was not us.

It's a clever way to improve the average miles per gallon statistics for the car!

Isn't there enought activities on board the cruise ship? Or is it that people are tired of the on-board activities and that cruise lines have to find other way to entertain people? Frankly, if people go on these ships just because they can win a car, I think they are missing the point about cruising.

just a thought
Cameron

December cruise 1990 aboard the ss Norway was the Wheel of Fortune cruise....I was there! I even got to dance with Vanna. There was a corvette on deck as a promotion, no one won the the car though, it was just there for looks.

If the Captain of the Grand Princess was able to have his CAR onboard, does that mean the Captain of the Queen Mary on her last voyage had to go home on the London BUS he took with him ??? B

Don't know about the car on the deck of the Grand Princess; however, the QE2 does have a garage, if you care to bring your car or motorcycle to the UK or the States. I think the fee is pretty hefty now; however, once upon a time the QE2 would transport your car free if you were emigrating.
