Enjoyed Paddys "Worst names ships" How aboutnames you think ships should have. Be serious or have fun. For example how about the "Carnival Perspiration" or "Bulimic Princess"

Sitting at breakfast one morning with another couple when in pulls the Destiny - the other lady, who was a real character, says out loud "Oh, here's the DENSITY". Geez that ship is large and I didn't realize how large until I walked down the pier and compared her to the HAL ship I was on!

When Costa did still own the hull of the unfinihed COSTA OLYMPIA which was laid up at Lloyd Yards in Bremerhaven / Germany, before being taken over by NCL to become the NORWEGIAN KY, people named it the COSTA ROSTA (translation: rusting Costa / ROST=RUST)...
Another one was the VASCO DA GAMA. While under charter to Neckermann, she got her new nick-mame due to plenty engine-problems and failures: FIASKO DA DRAMA.
A nice name in the industry was ROYAL VIKING SEA / SUN / STAR / SKY / QUEEN.

I personally really like cruise lines that have original names for each of thier ships- names that do not all take the same form. For example, the early Royal Caribbean ships:
Song of Norway
Nordic Prince
Sun Viking
Nordic Empress
These names had a common theme without being identical- unlike the "of the seas" fleet today.

I really liked the names Celebrity has been selecting- again they have a similar theme without be identical:
Zenith
Horizon
Galaxy
Mercury
But now they have just gotten bad. New ships will be named Summit and Apex. These are just BAD. They should reconsider Jupiter, Contellation, Venus, Meridian.

The fleet that I believe has the best names today is the P&O fleet. All the ships's names end in -a, but they are beautiful and original. They draw from their rich shipping history while still being elegant.
Oriana
Victoria
Arcadia
Aurora
And you should expect upcoming ships to be called Canberra and Diana.
