I am the captain On the P&O Ship SS Victoria
and the boat is very grand, i have also sailed SS Aurora on her Maiden voyage She is beautiful if you would like any questions on the reliablity of ships or just normal questions feel free to ask.

A captain... how interesting!! Finally we have the opportunity of talking with most important figure onboard a ship.
I have a question to put: when she was bought by P&O she was completely refurbished but I would like to know if she still has remainders (rooms/lounges) of her days as KUNGSHOLM. Too bad that after the buy P&O done a very dumbheaded thing and replaced her beautifull funnels by that strange looking cone... but she still one of the most beatifull ships afloat.

When did SS/MV Victoria 1965 - 28,000 tons, P&O formerly Sea Princess,Kungsholm become 'a boat'?

Sounds like "Scottie" is someone living a fantasy.

No self respecting Captain would refer to his ship as a boat and would certainly know the difference between "SS" and "MV"

That's the first thing I also caught - A Captain of a ship calling it a "Boat". I don't think so! Does sound like he is living in a fantasy world!

Now that we have all caught him, wonder if he will reply or post again.

I would also like to find out who "Scottie" is, because sounds like he or she is talking a load of rubbish and that really is sad considering that this board has been devoid of these kind of things happening.

Can Joe or Malcolm, check the IP address logged thing - would this tell where this person has come from?????

You would expect the Captain of MV Victoria (a well educated British Officer) to have a first rate command of the English Language?

When P&O purchased Kungsholm, they stated that the ship bore some resemblance to the Canberra, and stated that they were removed the forward funnel to make the ships look more alike. I think the resemblance is a little thin but there you have it - that was the officially stated reason!! And yes she is an MV and always has been.

Mike, thanks for that information. I wondered why the funnel was removed. I thought she looked better with two. (BTW, have I betrayed that I am not a captain by calling the ship "she?")
