I think that Explorer's 'floating resort' type of décor is exactly the kind that divides the traditionalists from modernists! Our 'just boarded' friends might like to take a look at the MS Deutschland's décor? Although she is also a modern ship, the styles and scale of the two ships could not be more different:

I'm always surprised how much enthusiasm is generated in the media and by the general public for each new mega-ship! I always welcome the news of a new ship and the newest are certainly impressive in terms of their statistics. I do not doubt the high level comfort and facilities provided on these new ships, but as for the décor, oh dear!
Now I appreciate that 'taste' is purely a matter of opinion, but I personally would not have hundreds of mirrors, bright orange furniture and carpets with purple swirls in my house! Do cruise lines use Ronald McDonald as their interior design consultant? If I want Las Vegas glitz - I'd go to Las Vegas.
I've seen the QE2, The Norway and now Explorer, all at Southampton. It was certainly the former two ships, which made my heart, beat the fastest! In particular, the Norway's Art Deco style interiors are my idea of good taste.
Oh well, each to their own!

Anywhere else we can see photos of the M.S. Deutschland? I couldn't access. My quess is that the word "addicts" in the web address kicked me out. I'd love to see a newer ship that you all are considering has classic lines.
Thanks, Strat
