Would love some opinions from all you experienced cruisers, we are looking at booking the Panama Canal cruise Vision of the Seas out of San Diego on the 10th March 2001. As New Zealanders we have to make the right cruise decision as it costs us so much in airfares to meet the ship. Have any of you done this cruise how was it and how is the ship, we have cruised on Monarch of the Seas through the Southern Carribean in 1998, really enjoyed the ship and crew. Thanks in advance

We cruised Panama Canal on the Vision this past March. She is a beautiful ship and the Panama Canal is something to see.

We have also cruised on the Sea Princess, and I believe you can take her, or one of her sister ships to the Panama Canal. I would opt for the Princess ship - for a couple of reasons.

We believe the food is better on the Princess ships than on RCCL. The Sea and her sisters have much better access to the decks on the front and back of the ship. We found these to be the best spots to view the locks when going thru the Canal. The Vision has VERY limited public deck space front & back - but lots of nice spots port & starboard.

Whatever you decide, you will find the Canal fascinating. Be sure to read up on the history (Panama Canal web site) before you go. Have a great cruise!

We are considering the very same cruises so it was good to get your opinion. I was concerned about the condition of the Sea Princess. According to some of the web sites she has never been refurbished but the Vision is a new ship. Am I incorrect? We have sailed RC but never Princess.

I agree with Juliejoe.....fore and aft
viewing is very important.
Mary.....the Sea Princess is only 2 years
old.....no need for refurbishment yet. Are
you thinking she's the former Sea Princess,
now P&O's Victoria????

Thanks for the info, have since found out the Vision is not doing these cruises in March so have today asked my travel agent to book the 11day circle the Carribean on Vision haven't had any confirmation yet. It looks like a pretty good itinerary so here's hoping. Anyone else considering this one or been on it.

We will be cruising on RCCL's Vision of the Sea in April 2001, starting in Miami and ending in San Diego, going through the Panama Canal. This will be our 2nd cruise. The first was on RCCL's Sovereign of the Seas, Eastern Carribean. We had such a wonderful time!! I can't wait for this one!! Two weeks onboard and a lot of days at sea (yeah!!). Anyone else cruising on the Vision? It would be fun to meet onboard. Also, if anyone has done this cruise before, I would appreciate any pointers about the ship or the shore excersions. Thanks.

When we were on the Vision we liked one of the exercise classes. I can't remember his name but one of the staff taught Tai Chi. Tai Chi is best described as a form of martial arts. The movements are very slow. Almost like a slow motion dance. It is a lot of fun. Anyway his class was always full. If anyone has been on Vision recently I would like to know if they still have Tai Chi. Thank you.
