Now here is something new! U.S. Submarines is to build a 286 ft luxury submarine to hold 72 passengers. It will cruise mostly under water and go to depths of 1,000 feet. If you want to find out more, here is the link to the news article... http://www.spokane.net:80/news-story-body.asp?Date=060400&ID=s810146&cat=
I think it sounds fun! Probably expensive.

It's been my experience that, generally, anything referred to as "luxury" is beyond the means of the average person, although, I guess the semi-affordable Mercedes C-class is a "luxury" car. I guess what "luxury" exactly is depends on how much you're willing to spend.

A luxuary submarine, that sounds interesting?. I wonder if it will be yellow ?

Maybe it will be called the Nautilus 2? Maybe it could visit the wreck of the Titanic?

Of course it will be beyond the average person, until Carnival build a fleet of them carrying 2000 passengers each!

I checked the web site.

That's a very funny line: "Deck space is not an issue"!

Can you believe it, now a cruise sub. Don't know if any of you have ever been on a sub
or been to sea when she goes down. Not for
everyone I can tell you. No matter how nice they make it look your still locked in a can 1000 ft below the sufrace with lots of water trying very hard to get in.
Oh well something for everybody.

So the passengers will be able to feed the fish by pushing a button on the sub...hmmm...guess that means that after the sub leaves a each ocean after that one year of service, they will have to sink one of the old ships to create those artificial reefs to grow the food that they will be missing out on from the sub.

From the end of that article:

"You won't need spare oxygen on these cruises, but it might come in handy when you hear what they'll cost: The off-the-deep-end adventure will cost $2,000 a day per person."

Oh, well. Don't think we'll be signing on for this one any time soon!

In '82 when we were in Barbados on the Volendam, the Gato was docked in front of us and we were privileged to have tour of the sub by one of the young sailors. Going up and down that ladder was very difficult and the quarters were so small. If someone wanted to pass you in the hall you both had to walk sideways (and I was much thinner in those days). Two of the people who went on this tour with us had to leave after about 5 mins. due to claustrophobia. No thank you. I will stay on top of the water.

Mercy

How much do you think a room with a "balcony" would cost:-) ?

How high is the Atruim?

Do you need "flood" insurance?

I could go on, but i would be "sinking" too low! LOL

I'm ROTFLMAO; regards, cruznut6

cruznut6... That is funny
I would go for this one in a minute , if I had the money. What a thrill! I wonder if you can get seasick in a sub? There are not any waves at 1,000 feet down.
