On another thread ("Missed the Boat")I posted my nightmare on this subject. It seems that others also dream and have nightmares about cruising. I bet there are some really wild dreams/nightmares.

Oh yes.....I have ship dreams too!!! My wife just rolls her eyes these days when I tell her I had yet another dream that I was on a cruise ship. Sometimes I know the name of the ship in my dream, and sometimes I don't. I have had very elaborate dreams of walking on deck, exploring the engines, leading a group, doing ship inspections and even sinking. I have had dreams that I was on the Titanic or even seeing the Titanic raised, the Queen Mary at sea, and many dreams of the the Big U being fitted out into a cruise ship. I have had dreams of missing the ship, falling overboard, you name it. Becuase I read so much about the cruise industry everyday and I also have a very extensive ocean liner book collection, I have ships ships and more ships on the brain day and night. I will say that most of my ship dreams are positive and I don't want to wake up.

I, too, have had Titanic dreams, only she didn't sink. In fact, I had quite a nice cruise on her and remember fondly looking back over my shoulder at her after disembarking. It was one of the most intriguing dreams I've ever had.

I do not think it the case here but here is some information on dreams from Betty Bethards book on Ship or Boat.
"Your emotional self. If at the helm you are in control; if your boat is drifting, you are not in charge of your emotional life. If sinking you are allowing your emotions to pull you under, so take a good look at what is pulling you down in your day to day living. Through self-examination, making positive choices, you can change negative emotional trips"

I don't put a lot of weight in dream interpretation but that is interesting. In my dreams involving a sinking ship, it's usually not really sinking, it just has ocean water washing across the decks and sometimes I find myself wading through this water on deck...it's odd, because I don't have feelings of fear or being out of control when I experience this. I'm usually trying to take pictures and frustrated that my camera isn't working properly.

Analyze this. My dreams occur right after a cruise and last for 3 weeks after getting back. I always dream of not being prepared on a cruise ship. My luggage seldom arrives, if I remembered to pack it. Sometimes it begins when we are departing the ship and I'm still in my pajamas with nothing to wear. I find myself sleep-walking, digging in my dressers for something presentable to wear.
I am not a sleep-walker, until I return from a cruise.
