My family and I will be sailing on the Carnival Triump this summer. In the past (3 prior cruises) we always take the ship transport bus to the pier. I hate the waiting at the airport (Miami) for the bus to leave (our flight usually arrives at the airport too early) and the crowded transport bus along with the mad rush with excited passengers. My question - is it just as easy to take a cab to the pier by ourselves, or is it better to get the transport bus?

It is very easy. There are always cabs available both ways.

I'd take a cab - it isn't that far to the port and so much easier.

My husband, his parents, and I cruised on the Triumph in Jan. (had a great time, by the way) We usually take the bus to the airport, but this time we decided to catch a taxi and boy are we glad we did! We walked past the hundreds (literally) of people waiting to get on the buses, went right up to a taxi, and off we went. 17 minutes later we were at our airport terminal. It cost $18 plus $1 toll for the taxi. If we had taken the bus it would have cost $10 per person, so by taking a taxi it was easier, quicker, and cheaper. We took a bus to our hotel from the airport when we arrived (because that was what our travel agent had set up), but we wouldn't hesitate to take a taxi to the pier from the airport either. There were tons of taxis waiting.

Ginger that sounds good to me. We will be doing the same on our next cruise.
I really hate to stand in line while I'm on vacation. It's worth every penny for a cab.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the idea of taking a taxi to the pier but since I've never tried it, I was a little hesitant. Its not that I'm impatient or anything, I just don't like all the confusion associated with taking the cruise transport bus to the pier (waiting for the buses, people waiting in line to board the bus, the waiting while you're on the bus, etc..)
I think I'll take your advice and we'll just catch a cab to the pier.
