Has anyone cruised on Fred Olsen's Black Watch?

(Fred Olsen cruises are not normally marketed in the USA - so you might of not even heard of the Black Watch and Black Prince?)

Malcolm....

I have not cruised with Fred Olsen, but it's
a good company and comes highly recommended
by others I know.
I believe the Black Watch is the old Royal
Viking Star....a nice ship in her day. I
would not hesitate to sail on her. Fred
Olsen does cater to the British cruisers
which is a plus in my book. They have great
itineraries.

Malcolm - Quite by accident, in our TA's office today, I came across a 1999 Fred Olsen Cruise Lines brochure featuring the Black Watch - Scandi Tours appear to be the Canadian contact - 6 cruises featured including the Christmas and Millennium cruise. Two cruises featured for 2000 - a 10 night theme cruise "Favourite Operas" from Manaus to Bridgetown, Barbados and the last, 10 nights from Bridgetown ending in Nassau February 13'00 - CDN$ pricing. There would appear to be a tie-in with Air Canada.

Euro Cruises at 305 W. 13th St NY NY 10014 represents Fred. Olsen and the BLACK WATCH in the USA...I think she's a great old ship (geez hard to believe she is one of the older ones now, but at the age of 28 she is...but she is well kept and I LIKE HER)...for more on her and her good values for cruising, check our review right here at Travel Page...

I cruised on the Black Watch when she was the NCL Westward. I really liked the ship and was sorry to see NCL sell her. She is one of my favorites. I've never cruise with the Olsen line though.

Thanks, folks..

I can confirm that the 'Black Watch' is alive and well and often sails from 'Dover' UK.
