Hello, If anyone has sailed her, especially any former RCCL passengers, could you please tell me what you thought of the food. I'm almost ready to book her but have heard that the food is the ships weak spot. Thanks!!!!

Food was fine on the Voyager in Jan except for the last night, no one liked anything they got (there were 10 of us). This was our 8th cruise with RCI, their food for awhile was not real good, but they have improved. Felt service has gotten worse thru the years, waiters seemed very rushed, but they are giving them more tables to wait and the personal touch is gone. Want great food - try Princess.

Sailed V.O.T.S. in December. Very happy with the food. Would sail the ship again in a heartbeat. Been on R.C. 8 times and never had one complaint.
You can't go wrong!

Thanks jwine and billyboy. It's been 6 years since I've sailed on RCCL. I always had a great time. Have either of you been on the Century? I've heard the food would probably be better but i know my husband would like the bigger ship.

You've heard my comments before, but just to reiterate, we thought the food was great. As was the service. The ship is just soooo amazing, you really can't go wrong with choosing this one. (I disagree with jwine that Princess has great food...we were on the Dawn Princess last spring and I thought it was just so-so. The Voyager's was much better. Princess had too many bland things on the menu for my taste. I did think that Princess was better than Holland America for the food, though.)

When are you going? My coworker is booked on the Voyager May 21st, so if its after that, I can tell her to give you her input, too.

I honestly think you'll be happy with the Voyager's food. Book Portofino one night, too. Maybe "Mardi Gras" night would be the night to do that...that was the one night I wasn't thrilled with the dining room's menu. I enjoyed what I had, but it was the one night I wasn't debating between 2 and 3 entrees that all looked good!

Let us all know what you decide!!!!

Hello Laura, I just put down my deposit for the July 16th sailing of the Voyager. I'm relieved that I finally made my decision. Dining is an important part of the cruise experience for me. I love to eat all the three main meals in the dining room. Your comments really helped me decide. Thanks again.

Hi LindaBeatrice! You're going to have such a great time! Another thing I think I forgot to mention was the "mid-afternoon snack" buffet I stumbled upon one day around 3:30-4:00 on our last afternoon on board. They had all kinds of delicious things, like belgian waffles with all the trimmings, all kinds of desserts, cakes, cookies, brownies, and tons of other things that I can't remember! This was in the Windjammer restaurant...I went up there in the afternoon to get an ice cream cone (ice cream machines are 24 hours!!!) and stumbled across this glorious buffet! I had no idea they did this every afternoon and wished I had know about it sooner! (My waist is thanking me, I guess....) It was wonderful!!!

We ate breakfast in the main dining room a couple mornings..I remember the blueberry pancakes were good. (they only give you 2 or 3, so if you're really hungry, ask them up front for more.) We didn't try the dining room for lunch. We had lunch every day in the Windjammer. Food was not real fancy, but definitely very good! Every day pizza and hamburgers and hotdogs are available, and then they have the buffet lines with every thing else. They had great desserts in here, too. My husband and I always had 2 desserts at lunch! When else in your life can you do that and not feel too guilty??!! haha.

I vividly remember how great the salad dressings were in the main dining room at dinner. Really, really unique things. And if you can't decide which one you want, your waiter will let you try one of each! I'm glad I did that, because I was pleasantly surprised at so many of them!

Try to find out when "Mardi Gras" night is in advance from your TA and book Portofino that night. I hear the food and service has drastically improved since the first few sailings. I know its still very "leisurely", but that's ok! And I hear that the tirimisu is outstanding.

I can't wait to hear what you think when you get back. Be sure to post something and let us know!!!

Try here - I didn't look at your date, but it's a listing of people cruising on RCCL - part of a non-RCCL-sponsored site dedicated to RCCL and created by a long-time fan who actually has married a Chief Engineer on one of the ships! (Now that's what I call a REAL fan!)
