Hi Mercy - I'm not being factitious - 3 day or 3 night cruise?

I don't know the answer and will be interested in the other posts.

Mercy - we did a 3 night, 2 day trip from LA to Vancouver (repositioning) on the Rotterdam V & Statendam (HAL) and I don't believe we had a formal night. Just checked my photo album and it doesn't look like we had one. If you aren't sure, just take a dressy pant suit that would do for either a formal or informal night. On my last cruise on the last formal night I wore a dressy 3 piece pant outfit and it was fine.

I was checking your intinerary and it seems as though there are no "at sea" days. Usually formal nights are on "at sea" days. But I bet there is a formal night on your trip...however I don't know.

According to a brochure we received last September when we went on the four night Royal Caribbean Viking Serenade to Ensenada it lists both the three and four night cruises have one formal night.

It's a four day, three night cruise, on the Vision of the Seas, to the Pacific Northwest from Seattle. Victoria Canada and Vancouver, B.C. Great time to spot whales!!
I live one hour North of Seattle.

Have a great trip. Mercy. Many things to photograph in Victoria.

If you can, try Afternoon Tea at The Empress.

Good Grief,
The original post was 6 years ago.
Viking Serenade? It's been out of RCIs line up for a while.
Are posts deleted after a year? Seems like a lot to have archived??

Well actually now in the year 2006, things have become more casual than ever. On some 3-night cruises, the height of formality is a clean T-shirt!

The naughty Desirod is soon to embark on a 4 day cruise with a first timer on the largest queen of them all.

This weekend I am searching for a tunic

to wear on formal night. My body does not lend it self well to dresses. Tux's are boring.

Malcolm, were formal nights on your QE2 crossing a floating costume party like mine?

Desirod, I suspect that nothing on my cruise or in my wardrobe is ANYTHING like yours!

I have never seen a costume on anything other than a themed evening. Military uniforms, Kilts, Saris, Kimonos etc as expected.... yes, but nothing that one could deem a costume.

It is my understanding that on Carnival, formal means that the bills of baseball caps are to face forward.

...in Dollywood I found signs saying "For this ride you must wear pants, shirts and shoes ".....I heard commercials for restaurants pointing out that they have real cutlery....
