Laura, Did everyone think the food was good. I've read that some people think it is mediocre.

We were on the Voyager a few weeks ago. The food was not gourmet but we definitely had no complaints. I am afraid a lot of people expect gourmet food from a mass market ships which charges mass market prices.

We thought the food was excellent! I guess I wouldn't call it "gourmet" either, but we both thought it was better than our previous cruises on HAL and Princess. The desserts were far better too! there were several nights that my husband and I couldn't decide what to get and our waiter said to us with a smile, "You know what I have to do..." and he brought us a sample of everything we were considering! There were several nights when we ordered 3 entrees between the 2 of us, sometimes we each had 2 desserts, 2 appetizers, etc!! Remember, the portions are generally small, but yes, we stil ate an awful lot! We were so active during the day, I guess we burned most of it off!

The food in the Windjammer and Island Grill was very typical of other ships...lots of variety and very good! We ate breakfast and lunch in here, and the dining room for dinner. (We ate breakfast in the dining room one morning...had blueberry pancakes! Yum!)

Our table mates said they thought the food on this ship was better than any other line they've been on, too.

I STRONGLY, STRONGLY, STRONGLY recommend this ship. This is the first time I've ever said "I want to go on that ship again!" Usually you want to try something new, but this was so wonderful, I truly would book on this ship again and again! The entertainment was PHENOMENAL!!!! I've never seen such good entertainers! The staff was great...the rooms were surprisingly big, and the ship was more beautiful than any other we've seen.

Ask any questions you like...I'm still on "post-vacation bliss"!

Could it be that dining experiences on ANY cruise line depend on whether you live to eat or eat to live?

hehehe...Green....
I thought the food was great on Voyager too, but I'm sure tastes will differ depending on who you talk to and their point of reference.
Laura I know how you feel. I usually come off a ship planning to go on something new, but there is something about Voyager that makes you wanna go back, soon. I think part of it was I couldn't do everything I wanted to do because I was doing something else.

Yeah, MagnmPI, you have to go again so you can go to Jamaica! I really enjoyed Jamaica. It was a beautiful island..waterfalls everywhere. The water was so beautiful, and the natives were nothing but friendly! We did the sea kayak/Dunn's River Falls tour and had an absolute blast! Then we went into town for a couple of hours and bought some t-shirts and Blue Mountain coffee. The natives were so friendly and not rude or overly aggressive at all. No one chased us...no one offered us drugs. We felt completely safe.
I do believe you shouldn't go off the beaten path on your own..stay near people and touristy places or with a guide. We had a really good experience there.

Thanks everyone for all your input. Has anyone who replied to my question been on Celebrity's Century. Food is kind of important to me. It doesn't have to be gourmet but i've been to too many restaurants and paid good money and my husband and I have been disappointed. We only get to take 1 vacation a year so we want to spend our money wisely. Your replies have me leaning towards the Voyager. Thanks sooooo much for your help.

Linda Beatrice,

I truly think that you'll enjoy the Voyager and will find the food delicious. If you do end up booking on her, make your reservation for Portofino on Wednesday night. (Mardi Gras night.) That was the only night we didn't go nuts over the menu. The meal was still very good, but not as good as the other nights.

One thing I liked especially about the Voyager's meals was the salads served at dinner. The dressings were out of this world! There were many nights when I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 different dressings, so our waiter let me try a little of each one! WOW!!!! They were extremely unique! One night I had "Florida Citrus", another night was a "chili" dressing which was outstanding (it was white and creamy like a ranch, but with a little kick!) There was alot of unique balsamic vinaigrettes that were really good. I could go on and on. We had lobster that was very good - not dry at all. Lots of fresh fish and seafood on the menu each night. There was always a good variety on the menu, too. Something for everyone. And the desserts were truly the best I've had at sea. Again, they were small portions, but you're always encouraged to try everything you want!
