We cruised it several years ago. I still remember them playing that song as we were leaving the dock "New Sensation" by INXS. Kind of cute I guess. Anyway the cruise director is a crack up. The stops are very good. Anytime you have St Thomas, St Maartin, and Puerto Rico as an itinerary you can't go wrong. Don't do the St John's beach tour. The beach is crowded and too many rules. The life guard blows his whistle every two minutes. I wouldn't do the America's Cup Racing in St Maartin either unless you want to be yelled at for not performing sailing duties. On that excursion I only wanted to sail and drink a few beers with my wife. She ended up in the back and I was grinding away in the front... We won, big deal. The only good time I had on the race was when my sister popped our guide a good one when she let one of the lines get away. It hit him on the back of the head.
I'm laughing as I write this.

Boy what a warped sense of humour you have - your sister letting go of a rope to pop someone over the head. He could have suffered a concussion or fallen overboard. I don't think that is funny.
Anyone we know who has done the America's Cup had a great time. As far as the lifeguard blowing his whistle that is his job to look after and warn swimmers/snorkellers. We have been there many, many times and they didn't bother us. That is a National Park and rules are very strict and either you obey or get out.

I sailed on the inaugural sailing of the Sensation in 93 and I too remembered the "New Sensation" song being played. Then again it WAS brand new at the time.

It was a great ship and I had a good time. Michealangelos was probably my favorite lounge with a very classy feel. I'm sure the cruise director has since changed. Sensation is in the Fantasy class of ships which are nicely laid out and a perfect size to accomadate 2000+ passangers without feeling crowded. I'm sailing on the Paradise (a sister ship) next month and can't wait for the SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENT!

I've sailed the eastern caribbean and all ports were enjoyable although I still think they're all pretty much alike. I'd be content to have the ship going in circles with no stops for the week personnally.

As far as St John, enjoyed it immensely and I did the America's Cup Regatta which I think is one of the BEST excursions by far! It was a lot of work but we had a blast. I'd do that again in a heartbeat.

OK Sympatico:
It did sound rather cruel. But just to set the record straight. The Guide or Captain was not hurt by the lines. He was more surprised than anything. My sister did not loose the lines on purpose. I guess it was the expression he gave her that was so funny.
Let me tell you. He was all over me for my performance during the training period, abusive I'd say, and I did not appreciate that at all. Especially since I was giving it my best at the time. I mean, the crew wanted to win, and I wasn't going to be the goat and blow the race. The race is very competitive. That's just not for me.
