My husband and I are trying to decide between the Century and Voyager. It's been 7 years since we sailed on RCCL and have always been satisfied but alot can change in that amount of time. Any opinions? We went on Celebrity once and found the food to be better but the atmosphere more laid back. Thanks!

I think Voyager is something you gotta see or experience. Especially if you're into the BIG ships. We had a great time. I wish RCI would let other cruisers tour her when she's in port. My friends from work are always asking me questions about this cruise more than any other I have taken in the past, and they can't get enough of my pictures. But if you're into personal service, don't expect any of the staff to call you by your name.

My wife and I have decided to look into Celebrity for our next cruise (we have never been on that line). But, would definately look into cruising on Voyager or any one of her sisters in the future.

We liked the V.O.T.S. well enough we booked the Exployer of the Seas for this coming December.
We thought it was a real classy ship.

We have just come back off the Voyager. My husband and I and our daughter and her youngest who is 12 went together. We had a wonderful time. This is a very attractive ship, the colour scheme is lovely and bright. They have designed the ship in such a way that it dosnt seem as large as it is. The dining room is probably one of the most beautiful I have seen on a ship. We had a Cat. C on deck 10 at the stern of the ship, these cabins we found out were about 4-5 ft longer than the normal Cat. C and of course had a very large balcony. The food was good, not excellent, but really nothing to complain about. There was free ice cream which our grandson had a lot of, 24 hour pizza store, the English pub with English beer (for those interested Bass and Guiness on tap) was very popular with this family. We had a new Captain on this sailing Capt. Johnny, just fantastic.

One can always find negatives with any cruise, whatever line or whatever you pay for it, I suppose the negative is I don't like the Western Caribbean itinerary that much but it was a better itinerary than on the Mercury 6 weeks earlier.

The other comment is you have to remember that ships of this size are not only cruise ships but destinations in themselves.

I can highly recommend this ship especially if you are a family travelling.

We noticed a lot of people on the ship were there just to see it and say they had sailed on her and the people I spoke too all loved her.

DianaD,
Regarding your trip, was RCI charging for use of the large spa located inside the gym? Did you happen to hear why they started charging for food at Johnny Rocket's? And will Explorer of the Seas start charging for these services right away or will they hold off like they did with Voyager? Sorry for all the questions, I was just wondering if you overheard any gossip among the crew. Or if you did any digging yourself.

We were on the Voyager 1-23-00 sailing. Beautiful ship but a large group of uncontrollable kids causing havoc all over the ship. When we complained we were told the parents and been talked to by Security and refused to cooperate! I suggested RCI step in and stop this stuff - kids gambling in the casino, in the hot tubs (even snorkeling in the hot tubs), at the Bingo, causing so much noise, people just left, at the shows, running up and down the aisles, talking, laughing, cell phones ringing, throwing things at the entertainers on the stage, the dining room at dinner was worse than any McDonalds I've ever been in - kids running around all thru dinner, crawling on the floor, sliding down the banister, adults dressed in jeans, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops and baseball caps. This was our 8th cruise with RCI and certainly will be our last with them until they change their policy of being "politically correct". This would never have happened on their ships 2 years ago. We thought this was an isolated incident, but reading about the Vision I guess it must be the norm on their ships now. Not for me - Princess here I come!

We were on the siling after you. They are definitely dealing with the problem of children. The crew have been told to deal with any problems, the cruise director spoke about it at the first show on the Sunday evening and said it was not going to be accaptable. It would appear that RCI are very concerned about it. Our grandson was with us and my daughter was talking to the staff in the Ocean club and they said they were ready to leave the ship the week you were on board. It appears that a lot of these children were from Spanish speaking countries. We heard about ice cream in the swimming pool, children running down the corridors at three in the morning. We had NONE of these problems on our cruise, even to the dressing in the dining room.

What a shame this happened to you, nothing can make up for the money you spent.

I have to say we have to blame the parents in most of these instances, they obviously have not bought their children up to have a social concience but where do the children learn - from their parents - enough said.

I am sure that everyone complained and registered their complaint when fill our the V.O.T.S. survey. Would it do any good if people would write R.C. and complain?

We have always had good cruises on R.C. Sound like they are having problems. How do some of the other lines step up to this problem?

Fortunately our Rep for RCI came into our office the week after we came off the Voyager and I told her of the problems we had been told about. As you can imagine she dosn't want Agencies complaining because it could affect her sales numbers. She was not aware of the situation and said she would bring it up with her Sales Manager at her next meeting.

billyboy...if I am paying at least $1300 per person(not including air) for a "vacation of a lifetime" and it turns out to be a vacation you wouldn't take again in this lifetime, I would write to the president or vice president! What a shame that this happened but unruly kids and uncaring parents are a fact of life! Why not let the cruiseline know so that they can take the feedback and try to improve the way they handle the situation in the future?

We certainly wrote to RCI, in fact the last day I went to the Pursers to get change and everyone there was asking for RCIs address. They would not give out a name, but told people just to write to customer service - I told the girl next to me to make sure Mr. Richard Fain (CEO) received a copy, the Purser said he would really not to be involved in things like this. I said he should be that was where a copy of my letter was going. Several years ago, we went with a large group on the Song of America out of San Juan, our flight left at 6:30am and we arrived in San Juan the next morning at 1:15am - 8 hour layover in Chicago. It was the flight from hell. We had the same thing on the way home - we all wrote and also sent copies to Mr. Fain, we did get Future Cruise Certificates and a letter from him saying the group department was being totally revamped.
