This may sound silly, but I can't seem to find answers to this question. I like to pack light so it is important to me to get it right. Will be on Carousel next week and the brochures make it sound more casual than most cruise ships. Is it one or two formal nights? How formal? What about the rest of the time? Thanks

I believe smart casual would best describe the average dress on formal nights. A limited number of ladies really came out dressed to kill and this was OK too. Men wore suits and tie or even sportjacket and slacks with tie.
The remaining evenings were casual. For men this was casual shirt and slacks for women something like summer dress and sandals. Hope this helps
Interesting, we had lunch with a nice guy from Newcastle. He said that the week before, one of their table companions turned up on formal night in a tux. He went back to the cabin and changed during the evening because other passengers kept trying to order drinks from him. Believe this one or not
Have a good trip.

PS please get back if you need more info and I will get Ms topgun to amplify. Were not going outside for the next day or so, its 20 degrees below zero celcius here

Thanks Topgun. Does this mean I can leave the beaded jacket home? (It weighs a bunch!) Appreciated the comment about the tux - husband was worried that most guys would be wearing 'em.

Wendy

I was on the Carousel a couple of weeks ago. I took two dressy dresses and the rest of the time I wore little summer dresses and I even got away with wearing combat trousers with a vest top. It is fairly casual. Obviously jeans dont go down too well but smart casual. My other half John did not take a tux, he wore mainly trousers with a shirt and blazer. Some men did wear tux and it did not look out of place!

There are two formal nights on board when it is a good excuse to dress up. The rest, just take little dresses or smart trousers and tops.

Have a good trip!

Sorry to hear you are leaving the gliz at home. I love the formal nights. Lots of fun to get dressed up. I always wanted to wear those "killer" dresses, but never had anywhere to wear them. Now I do.
Have a good cruise.

I decided to take some glitter - don't often get a chance to take it out of the closet. Probably will be overdressed but who cares. We leave tomorrow!!! Will let everyone know how it went. Thanks for all your help!

Wendy,

You won't be overdressed if you take your glitter. So for it, there are not many opportunities to dress up these days!

Have a good trip
