Do people find that cruise companies have very little or no info for first time cruisers. My wife and I now have just under two weeks to go until we cruise ( MS Sunbird - 7th Feb, Carribbean Two weeks, Yes!!!!) but have had poor response from Airtours.

For instance:

1) We were not told that Tickets turn up Two weeks before travel - We expected a few weeks before at least.
2) A lot of info is contradicted from one brochure/leaflet to another.
3) A lot of info we were expected to know but would never know due to being virgin(?!) travellers.
4) We only found out with the tickets that there are two formal nights a week on the Sunbird. As we are spending quite a bit of money on this cruise we are going for it. E.G. Tux & cocktail dresses etc. If it wasn't for this site we would not have known about these formal nights until two weeks before the cruise which is just a bit unfair because someone on a tighter budget might miss out on "Dressing up" for the evening.

Speaking to a few people this situation is not just unique to Airtours but seems to be across the industry.

Please companies be nice to us first timers and get brochures Etc. sorted and in sync and put info that "normal" people would ask.

Your travel Agent should have given you all the info you need to know.

Garrys, get another agent, the one you have should be publicly humiliated for their blatant disregard for your needs.

Thanks for the replies - However .......

We booked direct with Airtours so no agents to give advise.

A good agent is worth their weight in gold.

Let us all know how you enjoyed your cruise when you get back. We live vicariously through others between cruises.

Thank Goodness for the Internet! We had a bad travel agent our first time out and I had to learn everything off the net. She didn't even tell us about tipping. I found that this site and other cruise review sites help a lot.The best thing is to find a long review from someone who is maybe cruising for the first time that tells you day by day what to expect.I read a LOT of them and took notes. If you can remember to step up when going through doors, you will have won half the battle
