My husband and I are thinking of taking a milennium cruise as our first. Our travel agent found a great deal through airtours (in US) on the Sunbird. A 7 night criuse for $1100 per person supossedly including airfare. This sounds too good to be true! I found some of your comments about this ship, and it seems nice...what do you guys think of it for a late 20s couple cruising for the first time? We would like a good deal, but are not limited too much to a strict budget. Any suggestions or opinions?

Sure SOUNDS like a good deal - just check carefully that air is included - cabin location - inside or outside - ask for a deck plan to see how things are set up - what about port taxes - transfers from airport to ship and return! Less than$160.00 per person per day for everything - transportation, accommodation, food, entertainment is, I would say , very budget! If you receive answers you like - go for it - Justremember - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Happy cruisin'

P.S. Check the ship's review on this site.

We sailed on the Sunbird when she was RCL's Song of America. They have added a deck of suites and the Viking Crown Lounge is still there! She has a lovely wrap around promenade deck. I think you are getting a great deal and you will enjoy the ship. Just try to sit in one of the side "wings" of the dining room-it is quieter there. Have a great time.

Go for it!!

As you may well have seen from previous replies and threads that the Sunbird seems very good VFM. Airtours really seem to be making a good attempt to get their cruises much more upmarket while still offering very good pricing.

Hi there

We are also cruising over the Millenium on the MS Carousel (same group of ships). We are doing a "cruise and stay" option which means we spend the first week 25 Dec - 1st Jan in a 5* hotel in Cancun then board the ship on New Years Day - considering the holiday is over the Xmas and New Year Period it is costing both of us just under £2,000 each which I dont think is that bad!!!

Hope it is worth the money!

Hi Natalie -
Don't be surprised if Cancun has lot of kids. It's holiday time - schools open again at beginning of January so it should not affect the cruise. Will look forward to your post when you return.
Happy cruisin'
