in all the years we sold cruises,
that is one ship that escapes us.
what line was it with? and what
was the name of it before? that
is if it was with another line.

This ship was the ferry FINNSTAR,then the
PEARL OF SCANDINAVIA,OCEAN PEARL for Pearl
Cruises. It was finally sold to the Costa Lines and renamed COSTA PLAYA and sailed to Cuba. That is probably why you have never heard of it!
It was 12,400 GRT ship and held about 450
Passengers. At one time is the mid 80's she was highly regarded for her China Cruises.

THE SIZE ALMOST REMINDED US OF
THE S/S FLAVIA. WE STILL MISS THAT
BEAUTIFUL SHIP. IT WAS ONE OF
COSTA'S FINEST.

I believe that she is laid up in Cuba. When Carnival had to dispose of that route during its purchase of Costa, they found no takers. She is idle in Cuba where a contract was in place for exclusive use of one of the two Cuban ports.

The COSTA PLAYA was sold to China and renamed. I think she is again OCEAN PEARL but if not PEARL is in her name.

Indeed the COSTA PLAYA (ex PEARL OF SCANDINAVIA) was sold to the Chineese company Farsco Nice Ltd. It is now operating as a gambling-ship for Asian passengers. I´m sorry but I don´t have any actual name of the ship.
