My family and I are looking to cruise on either BRB or Fantasy for a 3 or 4 day Bahamas cruise with a brief stay at WDW. We have a 19 yr.old daughter who is confined to a wheelchair. Can anyone give me any info about wheelchair accessibility on the above shios? Thank you very much.

Between those two ships, I'd suggest the Fantasy over the Oceanic (Big Red Boat). The Oceanic is an older ship and presents more of a challenge to someone in a wheelchair. For example, the Fantasy has 20 wheelchair accessible cabins versus the Oceanic's 1. The Fantasy also has wider elevators and more ramps for easier access to decks.

We have a list of ships and their accessibility for wheelchair passengers at http://www.travelpage.com/cruise/s_needs/s_needs_ship_list.htm . We also have a list of issues to consider at http://www.travelpage.com/cruise/s_needs/s_needs_cruise.htm

By the way, you might also want to consider Disney cruise lines Disney Magic. She entered service last year and is well equiped to meet the needs of passengers who use wheelchairs. Disney also offers combined 3 day at WDW and 4 day cruise packages.

Hope that helps,

Thanx for the help. I looked up the two web sites you gave and both were very informative, including having several references to other handicapped-cruising sites. I'll try to let you know how our cruise goes; perhaps I'll be able to help others who "are in the same boat !" Thanks again.

In searching the web ,I found another web site that, along with the above web sites, may be very helpful to anyone travelling with a handicapped individual: SATH (The Society for the Advancement of Travel for the Handicapped) at www.Sath.org. This gives info for all forms of travel, including cruises. Between SATH's web site and TravelPage's sites, answers to just about any question regarding travel with the disabled can be found.
