NCL's 'Sale of sails' (2nd passenger goes half price) does not apply to UK bookings. How unfair!

Malcolm, don't feel too badly. NCL's 2 for 1 isn't really a 2 for 1! I recently checked out a cruise on the Norway. The per person fare was (in round numbers) $1,800 for a deluxe cabin on the Sky Deck (not including air fare). Therefore, you would think that 2 for 1 would mean that my husband and I would sail for $1,800. Wrong, the fare was to be $3,200. A savings of just $400. Not 2 for 1 in my book. P.S. I'm also a Latitude's member and the 2 for 1 fare for Latitude members was even higher! Go figure.

NCL seems to have a racket going. Not that I don't do well with them pricewise, but it's never with any of their promotions. For example, there is a provision with their Latitudes Cruise that the $200 cabin credit doesn't apply do discounted fares. Well who pays book rates? And since I never run up a $200 on board bill what's the point. I'd rather get the money off the price of the cabin and $200 off isn't a bargain either.

I just got my Latitudes magazine and in it the Sale of All Sails states 2nd passenger is at least 1/2 off which can be far from 2nd passenger sails free (or 2 for 1).
Also, I was told thatsome Euorpean sailings on the Norway will not even be marketed in the States and that may be why Malcolm's cruise isn't included.

Sale of sales does not apply to any of the NCL Cruises in the 1999 UK Brouchure including the Caribbean cruises.

The big disadvantage with living in Britain is that EVERYTHING is more expensive than the USA! Personally I do not think it is due to taxes, in my opinion it more due to price fixing/cartels. A Japanease computer that cost 1000 dollars in the USA, would cost us a 1000 pounds (which is about 1600 dollars!)
Look on the back of a text book for example, it might say 20 dollars (US) and 20 Pounds (UK) which is not at all the same! (32 dollars)

Malcolm, I think I have to agree with you. If I compare the fares we offer in our office, as the General Sales agency of Celebrity Cruises and Festival Cruises in Luxembourg , to our clients with the ones which are offered in the States, it looks clear that cruises are less expensive there than here in Europe. As well you still have to add a transatlantic flight if you take a cruise in the Caribbean and then it starts to be slowly expensive.
But we are on the way now with Celebrity Cruises to offer an American pricing system. But costumers seem to have their problem in undestanding that with this system fares are changing every day. It's not an easy procedure but I agree with you that there must been something done that a cruise line offers equal fare-conditions everywhere.
Until this happens maybe one day, just remember that the UK is not the only country in Europe having these problems.
